Terms of Service

Last updated October 13, 2026. Please read these terms before using SubToolDesk.

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using SubToolDesk (the "Service") at subtooldesk.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of the service

SubToolDesk provides free, browser-based tools for converting and reformatting subtitle and transcript files (including SRT, WebVTT, and plain text). All processing described on this site occurs entirely within your own web browser using client-side JavaScript. SubToolDesk does not receive, transmit, or store the content of any file you process through the Service.

3. Your content and responsibility

You retain full ownership of and responsibility for any subtitle, caption, or transcript file you process using the Service. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights or permissions to process any content you use with the Service, including content subject to copyright, confidentiality obligations, or third-party intellectual property rights. Because SubToolDesk never receives your file content, we have no ability to review, moderate, or remove it. That responsibility rests entirely with you.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, or compromise the Service's infrastructure or security.
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or republish the Service's source code without permission, beyond what open-source licenses (if any) permit.
  • Use automated means to access the Service in a way that imposes an unreasonable load on our hosting infrastructure.

5. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that conversions will be error-free, that the Service will be uninterrupted, or that output will meet your specific requirements. Always verify converted subtitle files before relying on them in a production or time-sensitive context.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SubToolDesk and its maintainers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

7. Advertising

The Service may display third-party advertising, including through Google AdSense, to support free access to these tools. See our Privacy Policy for details on how advertising cookies are used.

8. Changes to the service and these terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, and may update these Terms of Service periodically. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, to the extent applicable to a free, client-side web service of this kind.

10. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent via the details on our Contact page.
